To celebrate the U.S. bicentennial, a $2 bill, Series 1976, was introduced and showed the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the back.   Dollar coins were discontinued in 1935, and then resumed in 1971 with the introduction of the silverless Eisenhower dollar.
