Dollar coins were discontinued in 1935, and then resumed in 1971 with the introduction of the silverless Eisenhower dollar.   Replacing the Susan B. Anthony coin was a dollar coin with Sacagawea, the Native American woman who helped Lewis and Clark's expedition succeed.
