Replacing the Susan B. Anthony coin was a dollar coin with Sacagawea, the Native American woman who helped Lewis and Clark's expedition succeed.   The first $1 notes were issued in 1862 and had a portrait of Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase.
