Some U.S. coin amounts used in the past were the half-cent, two-cent, three-cent, and 20-cent pieces, and a half-dime (a small silver coin).   The first $1 bills were issued in 1963. The design, with George Washington on the face and the Great Seal on the back, has not changed.
