Benjamin Franklin’s portrait was first used on $100 notes on the first series of Federal Reserve Notes, Series 1914.   To celebrate the U.S. bicentennial, a $2 bill, Series 1976, was introduced and showed the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the back.
