To celebrate the U.S. bicentennial, a $2 bill, Series 1976, was introduced and showed the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the back.   “In God We Trust” first appeared on paper money in 1957 on $1 Silver Certificates, and on all notes beginning with Series 1963.
